The Studio
The Phoenix Project Audio is a studio capable of producing broadcast-quality audio at an affordable price.
The main workstation of our studio is an Apple Mac Pro [with Monterey] which has been upgraded to meet modern standards; running the latest production software Ableton Live 12 Suite for music and Steinberg Nuendo 13 for film & video. The studio is equipped with three large monitors - left as the mix console, middle as the main DAW arrangement window and the right for video. This allows for an efficient workflow [we are planning on adding a fourth screen which mirrors the middle one for clients to see].
For audio monitoring, we have the Macintosh connected to an M-AUDIO AIR 192|4 which is a 2-in/2-out interface. PreSonus 4.5" stereo speakers provide the powerful output needed to efficiently monitor audio. Providing a clear vocal input is the MXL990 condenser microphone.
Although we currently offer 5.1 & Dolby Atmos mixes and the like, we are currently looking to expand our stereo studio to a 5.1 studio with new equipment so stay tuned! For now, our workflow allows us to downmix sessions live and still deliver a broadcast-quality surround mix.
We have dabbled with external instruments in the past and have been able to play with a few, most recently the Roland BOSS DR-660 from 1993. The main external instrument we return to is the Roland TB-03 - the truth is, external instruments aren't a necessity for today's music making world [though we still have plans to expand our external instrument & synth collection]. We are able to utilise the latest in music production technology from companies like Steinberg, East West Audio, Native Instruments, Spitfire Audio and Roland Cloud to have the computer host whatever sound we need be it acoustic or electronically synthesised in VSTi plugins.
To control these instruments, we have three main controllers: the M-AUDIO KEYSTATION 88 MK3, Ableton Push and AKAI Professional MIDImix.
